The Witcher proved to be a massive success for Netflix, revealing that it was even on track to becoming its biggest first season ever. While the studio is gearing up for the second season, a new actor will be joining the cast.

According to Deadline, Carmel Laniado, who appeared in Dolittle alongside Robert Downey Jr., was cast for the show's upcoming season as a character named Violet.

Laniado will be playing the role of a "young girl whose playful and whimsical demeanor is a front for a smarter and more sadistic character." Redanian Intelligence says Violet isn't a codename and she doesn't appear in Andrej Sapkowski's novels. She is actually an original character made by showrunner Lauren Hissrich.

The character is expected to be included in a subplot of the second season as a supporting character, who will likely be having scenes with Freya Allan's Ciri.

Violet could be amongst the new set of characters that Hissrich is planning to introduce in Season 2. While fans are yet to know anything about her, it looks like it'll definitely be an interesting season with even more exciting adventures.

The outlet says filming for The Witcher might start this month in Scotland as well as some parts of Eastern Europe.

The Witcher stars Henry Cavill as Geralt, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer, Freya Allan as Ciri and Joey Batey as Jaskier. Season 1 is now available on Netflix and Season 2 is expected to be released in 2021.
