Star Wars fans were livid upon learning that Kelly Marie Tran’s Rose Tico had only barely over a minute of screentime in The Rise of Skywalker, which is a 142-minute film. Tran’s character was just on the sidelines and had less participation compared to The Last Jedi. This caused the fans to get the hashtag #RoseTicoDeservedBetter trending on Twitter, and even got the attention of one particular director.

In a recent tweet by Crazy Rich Asians director Jon M. Chu, not only did he voice his support for the character, he is also interested in making a Disney+ series that will heavily involve Rose Tico. “Put me in coach,” the director said, showing that he’s pretty much eager to make this show happen. You can check out his full tweet below.

Rose Tico’s story was built up in The Last Jedi and is essentially one of the main characters in the film. When fans knew about the character rising in ranks at the Resistance, as well as finally getting scenes with Rey, they expected that Rose will be more involved in The Rise of Skywalker than the previous movie. However, she was left at the Rebel base, with very few screentime and no scenes with Rey, which is something she was excited about in a previous interview.

Star Wars fans were really thankful for the director and are very much supportive of the idea he pitched. Not to mention that a spinoff series from an Asian-American director would be a very cool idea and would somehow bring justice for the character.
