Game of Thrones Star Reveals A Magic: The Gathering Card From Throne of Eldraine

HBO's Game of Thrones series may be over but the king of the Seven Kingdoms is back to reveal a new Magic: The Gathering card from the forthcoming expansion, Throne of Eldraine.

Isaac Hempstead Wright, the actor best known for playing Bran Stark in Game of Thrones, has taken it to Instagram to share a preview of the Throne of Eldraine buy-a-box card, and it's called "Kenrith, the Returned King".

"All hail the king…Thanks to @wizards_magic for the Throne of Eldraine buy-a-box card reveal! Play now on Magic: The Gathering Arena," Isaac said.

Here's a closer look at the card:

The Kenrith card reminds me of the Morphling variants with multiple activated abilities.

Wright's sponsored post is fitting for his Game of Thrones character, who ended up becoming the king of the Seven Kingdoms at the end of the series. Kenrith is not crippled and he doesn't have the supernatural abilities of the Three-Eyed Raven but he's a king with a lot of powers, and it looks like he plays a major role in Kate Elliott's Throne of Eldraine ebook The Wildered Quest. It's cool that a Game of Thrones actor has an exclusive MTG preview. After all, both Magic and Game of Thrones are epic fantasy franchises, and the showrunners of Game of Thrones are also producing the upcoming animated Netflix adaptation of Magic.

Throne of Eldraine, the 82nd Magic expansion, is set to release on October 4. Prerelease events will take place on September 27 to 29.
