Dragon Ball Super May Have Confirmed The Secret of Merus

Warning: This article contains spoilers from Dragon Ball Super Chapter 54

The latest chapter of Dragon Ball Super may be focused in the Z Fighters' conflict with Moro's squad but the most intriguing part happens at the end, when the Grand Priest and Whis talk about Merus and the Angel Laws.

In the final scene of this chapter, Whis arrives before the Grand Priest, and their discussion begins with the Priest wondering if Whis is asking him to save Universe 7 from "planet-eater" Moro. Instead, Whis asked to confirm something regarding "Angel Laws" and directly brings up Merus, hinting that Merus is either an angel or had at one point in his life gone rogue so he can join the Galactic Patrol.

Dragon Ball fans have been wondering about the secret of Merus since his first appearance. How is it possible that a regular "space cop" has the ability to fight Goku, even when the Saiyan is unleashing his Super Saiyan 3 form. The scene with Whis and the Grand Priest may have confirmed that Merus is in fact an angel or a fallen angel from a destroyed universe.

The Japanese version of Dragon Ball Super is available to stream on Crunchyroll and FunimationNOW while the English dub currently airs on Adult Swim during the Toonami programming on Cartoon Network. You can also stream it on Amazon Video and Funimation. The Galactic Prisoner arc in Dragon Ball Super is still ongoing in the manga, and you can read it for free on Viz Media.
