Final Fantasy XV's First DLC to Revive a Classic Series Villain

The first DLC for Final Fantasy XV will see the return of Gilgamesh.

As VG24/7 reports that a new special edition book sent to some YouTubers includes information about the first DLC, entitled Episode Gladiolus.

In the book, Final Fantasy XV DLC producer Haruyoshi Sawatari writes: "The player confronts an enemy called Gilgamesh, who can only be seen in Episode Gladio." He also says that "in Episode Gladio, you're able to go into areas that cannot be entered in the main game."

Square Enix hasn't announced at which point of the game's main storyline Episode Gladiolus will take place, but those who have played the game would know that there's one section of the narrative where it could take place.

Gilgamesh is the only character who shows up as himself across multiple core numbered Final Fantasy games. Originally Exdeath's lieutenant in Final Fantasy V, Gilgamesh was sent into the extra-dimensional Void; this gave him permission to cross Final Fantasy worlds, where his search for a set of legendary weapons could continue. Final Fantasy VIII featured his first cameo, where he could be summoned. Since then, he appeared in a lot of Final Fantasy games, even remakes. Dissidia confirms that there's only one Gilgamesh that show up in different worlds.

There's no word yet on what form Gilgamesh will take in Final Fantasy XV.
