Magic: The Gathering Artist Rebecca Guay Collaborates With Alayna Danner and Seb McKinnon on Her Kickstarter

Well-known and respected Magic: The Gathering artist Rebecca Guay recently launched a Kickstarter in support of her next gallery show and book. Guay is unveiling her sketches for the upcoming collaboration with her fellow game artists Alayna Danner and Seb McKinnon.

Both collaborations are only for the limited-run playmats, with each of the playmats being co-illustrated by Guay and McKinnon, as well as the collaboration of Danner and Guay. She had stretch goals wherein there will be a sketch and a playmat giveaway from her collaborations with her fellow artists.

The first is the $150,000 stretch goal which is the Path to Exile Extended. This will be the seventh playmat design that will be unlocked. It follows the extended version of Channel, Hana Kami, Perish, and Angelic Renewal. It also follows the unlocked narrative mats of Elvish Piper and Bitterblossom. When the $150,000 stretch goal is reached, the Magic: The Gathering artist will also choose a random backer who pledged $60 or more with a giveaway of an original Magic sketch which will be from one of her sketchbooks.

The second is the $160,000 Kickstarter stretch goal which is Rebecca's collaboration with Alayna. Regarding the collaboration with Alayna, Rebecca stated, I'll be teaming up with one of my favorite young artists for MTG and we've worked back and forth to develop this idea together with two of our most iconic characters. I'll make a full watercolor painting of this Serra/Jeweled Lotus and unlock it as a choice for a special edition signed playmat."

In the $160,000 stretch goal, it includes the Seb McKinnon collaboration. If her Kickstarter reaches $160,000 will release her collaboration work with McKinnon. Rebecca stated, "I'm leaping from one of his paintings to do a new version of Kaysa. A fully painted watercolor image that will be made into a never before (or again) released image for choice as a playmat."

The campaign will end on Sunday, December 20, 2020, at 10 pm EST. As of writing, the Kickstarter campaign has reached the $120,000 milestone. The new announcements and collaborations with top-tier Magic: The Gathering artists would likely give the campaign a huge boost.
