Squid Game is one of the most popular series on Netflix today. The hit South Korean survival drama streaming TV series is funny, exciting, thrilling and poignant. It is fun and moving to watch that you won't get enough of it.
Following the first season's success, there are various speculations on what will happen in Squid Game Season 2. One TikToker predicted that Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung Jae), player no. 456, will learn that Oh Il-nam (Oh Yeong-su), player no. 001, is his father.
Here are three reasons why Il-nam could be Gi-hun's biological dad.
Gi-hun is allergic to milk like the old man's son
In one scene, Gi-hun and the others were given a bottle of milk and bread for their food. However, Gi-hun asked if he could have chocolate milk because he had lactose intolerance. Apparently, his body has problems digesting it.
The old man reacted saying, "I'm willing to bet you got spanked a lot." Gi-hun answered, "how did you know?"
"My son did too. He was just like you, friend," Il-nam told Gi-hun.
Squid Game episode 6 suggest they came from the same area
In episode 6, the players have to team up in two. Nobody wanted to pair with Il-nam because he was too old. Gi-hun wanted to keep him safe, so he took the risk and decided to take him as his partner.
When they arrived at the place. Il-nam commented, "You know, when I was a kid. I live in a neighborhood just like this," Il-nam said.
"So did I," Gi-hun replied. "And you know something? Our alleyway looked very similar. "
Their conversation seemed to suggest that they were from the same place. Unfortunately, in a twist of fate, they had to play against their partner. Gi-hun tricked Il-nam and won. The latter gave way for the former. Gi-hun left while crying because his victory would mean Il-nam's death.
Il-nam's son and Gi-hun seems to share the same birthday
In another episode, the old man asked about the date. He said, "is it the 24th?" He wanted to know the date because his son's birthday was coming up.
In another episode, when Gi-hun stole his mother's ATM card, he entered his birthday as PIN and it was "08-26," which means that if it was the 24th then just like Il-nam's son, Gi-hun's birthday was coming up.
Il-nam and Gi-hun's relationship is critical in the series. Squid Game Season 1 ended with a big twist, Il-nam was the mastermind behind the game. There are rumors that he wanted to find his son because he had a brain tumor. Il-nam died before the season ended and Gi-hun who hated the game due to its violence may eventually take over his dad's role and be the next mastermind.
