It's amazing how Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures have been able to keep the production for Spider-Man: No Way Home free from spoilers and as it stands, we still know very little about the film aside from its growing ensemble of actors which already includes the returning Jamie Foxx and Alfred Molina who will reprise the villainous roles they previously played outside of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

With the rumors that Spider-Man 3 will be introducing the MCU's version of the Sinister Six to Earth-616, one would think right off the bat that the project is already getting overcrowded with baddies. Turns out, that's just the tip of the iceberg as No Way Home is being rumored to feature another villain who will make Peter's life a living hell in future films.

A persistent rumor surrounding the project involves Ned Leeds' alleged transformation into the Hobgoblin, one of Spidey's fiercest foes. We reported a few months back that one of the subplots in the film would see Ned's family getting killed following an accident that takes place during a showdown between Spider-Man and one of the villains.

Now, a new scoop from insider Daniel Richtman (via Patreon) claims that Ned will indeed undergo a villainous transformation in the film. According to his report, Leeds will go full crazy on his way to becoming the Hobgoblin which may support the previous rumors suggesting that the death of his family will be the main reason he ends up becoming the villain.

It's also worth noting that actor Jacob Batalon has undergone a serious body transformation before the project began filming last December and he's noticeably a lot slimmer than he was before. Could it be a hint that he's actually preparing to become arguably his best friend's biggest adversary? I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I've always believed that Tom Holland's version of Spider-Man has truly yet to be involved in a high-stakes scenario that doesn't concern any of his allies from the Earth's Mightiest Heroes. And sure, while the idea of Peter going up against his best-friend-turned-bitter-rival has been overplayed in the past, turning the unassuming Ned Leeds against him will be interesting to see.

Spider-Man: No Way Home will hit cinemas in December.
