There's renewed interest for Joe Manganiello in the DC Extended Universe following his brief appearance in Zack Snyder's Justice League as Deathstroke. His involvement in the film's pivotal Knightmare sequence was enough to convince fans that Warner Bros. should keep him on board and work on the supposed solo Deathstroke film which was originally part of the DCEU slate.

Manganiello was originally set to take part in Matt Reeves' standalone The Batman project which would have fulfilled the fans' wishes of seeing him go toe-to-toe with Ben Affleck's caped crusader but we all know that plans were altered following Affleck's controversial DCEU exit in early 2019 and the project would later be transformed into a brand new origin story starring Robert Pattinson which is now set in Earth-2.

Now, the actor is revealing new details about his short-lived solo Deathstroke project and as it turns out, they originally had huge plans for it. Participating in the Justice Con, the Sam Raimi Spider-Man trilogy actor claims that his pitch for the film included characters like Slade's family, his partner Wintergreen and the DCEU debut of Talia Al Ghul, one of Bruce Wayne's most iconic love interests. "It involved Adeline. The kids, who were young. Wintergreen. Talia," he said.

Despite the fact that Joe's supposed Deathstroke project didn't proceed as planned, there's still hope that the actor will get to return to the DCEU since reports claim that HBO Max is interested in continuing the SnyderVerse. And even if they weren't WB would be foolish not to give Manganiello another shot considering the positive response his appearance in the Snyder Cut generated.

Meanwhile, Matt Reeves' The Batman hits cinemas in 2022.
