After Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, a lot of people are wondering what's next for director J.J. Abrams. While a lot of people were expecting him to work on the next Superman title, it looks like he's going to be working on something more original in the meantime.

As per The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros has picked up a script for something called The Pinkerton, which is the first movie to come out of Abrams' Bad Robot ever since they signed a deal with WB last September.

We don't have a specific plot for the film yet, but it's described as a ‘supernatural revenge thriller' in what seems to be a Western setting. Pinkertons were also said to be the name of detectives from a mid-1800 era agency which worked with President Abraham Lincoln as well as several corporations during the Industrial Age of America.

It's not clear yet if Abrams would be the one at the helm for this movie, but he is working with 10 Cloverfield Lane's Daniel Casey when it comes to the script. It's also worth noting that Casey served as a co-writer for the ninth Fast & Furious movie.

Personally I'm kind of weary of Abrams after not liking The Rise of Skywalker so much, but I guess not everything was his fault when it came to that film. Hopefully Bad Robot can do something great with The Pinkerton, then Abrams can be free to work on that Superman movie.

But this is just wishful thinking on my part.
