While everyone is trying to get hyped up for the release of Star Wars Episode IX, news from the production has been very quiet. A lot of people have been expecting production to wrap for a while now, and it looks like Daisy Ridley’s stunt double is done with her part.
She shared this on Instagram:
No one takes my droid! ???⠀ ⠀ Special thanks to Rob Inch for giving me these amazing opportunities and of course CC & @daneustonstunts for being my punch bags ??⠀ ⠀ #previs #fights #stuntdouble #stuntfight #action #film #movie #starwars #VII #ideas #concepts #fun #training #hardworkpaysoff #tbt⠀

What’s also cool is, the fight scene she shared seems to be a scene from Star Wars: The Force Awakens. It was certainly shorter in the actual film, but it’s the part where the scavengers want to take BB-8 from Rey and she has to fight them off.
We don’t know what else kind of stunts are in it for Rey in Episode IX, but I’m hoping that J.J. Abrams goes more out of the box for this movie as compared to TFA. One thing a really liked about The Last Jedi was, though the set-up is all very obvious, Rian Johnson managed to predict what everyone was guessing and subvert everyone’s expectations.
So much for the movie which supposedly “killed the franchise.”
We don’t know when we’re going to get any big reveals for Episode IX, but everyone is expecting an official title drop before January ends. As for the first teaser, everyone is sure that it will be revealed during Star Wars Celebration this coming April. Fingers crossed Jon Favreau’s The Mandalorian series gets a teaser as well.
Catch Star Wars Episode IX in theaters Dec. 20.
