Yesterday saw the arrival of a new game mode called Capital Supremacy to Star Wars Battlefront II, and DICE has finally released an official community update giving us a good overview of the new mode.
Here’s the official description:
The forces of the Galactic Republic and Separatists clash in Capital Supremacy – an immersive, Clone Wars-era authentic experience in Star Wars™ Battlefront™ II – where non-linear ground battles fuse with the thrill of invading capital ships and taking them down, starting March 26.
Plus, deploy as two additional reinforcements, the Infiltrator class ARC Trooper and BX Commando Droid, and fight across Pipeline Junction West on Geonosis – a new location launched alongside Capital Supremacy!
As you can see, the game mode only looks to be available in a new Geonosis map, but I’m sure we could be looking at other locations in the future. The interior of the Clone capital ship may be familiar to anyone who played the Kashyyyk map, but the interior of the droid cruiser is something players haven’t gotten in-game before. You’ll notice some familiar elements from Revenge of the Sith though.
The game admittedly plays out differently compared to other game modes that we’ve gotten before, but I was kind of hoping that we got to fly some ships on the way to the larger capital cruisers. If I’m being honest, it kind of just feels like we’re getting a new capture point system, then the map just changes location into a capital ship.
Either way, it’s a fun addition to the game, and DICE could be looking to add more locations in the future.
Play Star Wars Battlefront II today on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
