Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse Producers List Down Characters They Want in the Sequel

Directing duo Phil Lord and Chris Miller have taken a backseat with Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and are attached as producers for the movie. With the sequel already approved by Sony, the two talk about the other Spider-people that they want to see in the follow-up.

Lord told CinemaBlend:

"This is not a promise at all… There's tons of them, you know, Spider-diaspora that are out there... I'd be really psyched to see Silk do something and really psyched to see Spider-Punk. I just think, aesthetically, the thing you do in a movie with that would be amazing."

He also goes on to throw Japanese Spider-Man and Italian Spider-Man into the mix. As he says, these aren't promised characters, but that doesn't mean they couldn't appear in one way or another.

Besides the sequel to Spider-Verse, Sony has already approved an all-woman spinoff with Spider-Gwen (Hailee Steinfeld) in the spotlight. Joining her will be the likes of Silk as well as Jessica Drew a.k.a. Spider-Woman.

We don't know when these animated sequels will come out, but knowing how long animated features take to develop, we could be seeing a sequel or spinoff released in the next 2-3 years, depending on how far development on the projects is already.

Spider-Verse was a really fresh take on the comic book movie genre, and I can't wait to see more films like this in the future.
