LOTR's Elijah Wood Throws Shade at Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

While the internet can be as loud and honest as it wants when it comes to their opinions of Star Wars films, it's always a different case when it comes to celebrities. Famous people rarely air out any terrible thoughts about films, but Lord of the Rings vet Elijah Wood may have just cast some shade on Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

When the Star Wars Holocron pointed out some new trivia about the Final Order fleet, Wood had replied with a comeback that was on everyone's mind:

While people want exposition to be minimal when it comes to films, they are still necessary; and when the franchise wants to bring back someone who had supposedly been dead for decades, we deserve a proper explanation instead of a "Somehow, Palpatine has returned." While there is EU material explaining some things, fans think that they shouldn't have to read these companion pieces just for a movie to make sense.

If anything, Wood is still being diplomatic with his tweet. I don't expect him to trash anything Star Wars too hard since he voices a character on Star Wars Resistance. Then again, that show's ended, so he probably doesn't have a current project with Lucasfilm going on.

As it stands, some fans are demanding that Lucasfilm give us a director's cut that would properly explain everything that was wrong with TROS. Then again, the internet is too busy asking for the Snyder Cut of Justice League; so unless that comes out, the "J.J. Cut" will have to wait in line.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hits digital on March 10 and Blu-Ray/HD on March 24.
