Kevin Smith Shares His Cameo in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

Jay and Silent Bob director Kevin Smith is notorious for being a Star Wars fanboy, and though he got a voice cameo in The Force Awakens, he reveals he actually has an onscreen role in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

He shared this:

The picture's not to clear, but he looks like a random villager on Kijimi. I would have actually loved if we got to see his face in the film, but I guess Star Wars is keeping to tradition with mystery celebrity cameos. I'm almost sure that Ed Sheeran is one of the troopers that Rey puts a mind trick on, and Lin-Manuel Miranda is a Resistance trooper at some point in the film (this film moves so fast it's literally difficult to keep track of everything onscreen).

With Smith being a director himself, it's kind of curious why Lucasfilm hasn't approached him to direct something yet. Then again, Star Wars is known for its adventure element, and Smith I think shines best when he does character driven, slice of life movies. Not to mention, he makes the raunchiest dialogue, and there's no way Disney is bringing that into Star Wars.

For now, fans are once again divided on the new Star Wars film; a shame, seeing that this definitively ends the Skywalker Saga. Though I personally was not a fan, I think it's important that the kids love this movie; I'm just annoyed that the fanboys who basically trashed Last Jedi for the wrong reasons kind of got what they wanted.
