The Rise of Skywalker is finally here, and Star Wars fans definitely have a lot to process. The film aims to satisfy and answer any questions about the Skywalker Saga but with Rey and Kylo Ren's last scene, the truth about their relationship casts doubt and made the movie a bit confusing.

Towards the last part of the movie, Ben Solo sacrificed his life for Rey. Once the heroine was revived, the two shared a kiss. It was such a hopeful moment, but not before Ben lays down and ultimately met his death.

Taking to Twitter, a fan managed to get director J.J. Abrams' comments regarding the characters' first and last kissing scene. One would think that the two are somehow a couple and shared a really deep and romantic bond. Well, that's not the case though.

"There's as much of a brother and sister thing with Rey and Kylo Ren as there is romantic," Abrams claimed. He said there isn't a literal sexual or romantic kind of thing between the two, rather, "they're just bound together in this crazy, spiritual way." The director made it clear that it felt "romantic" to him.

He also likens this scene to Luke and Leia's in Empire Strikes Back. "It's like John Williams, when he first wrote the Luke theme," he added. Abrams says it was a "romantic theme" for Luke and Leia, but that was what Williams was thinking, not knowing where their relationship would be heading towards.

With Abrams' comments, it seems like he didn't explain that part very well since the kissing scene became a bit more confusing for Star Wars fans.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is now showing in theaters.
