It goes without saying that Disney failed to hit the mark with its Star Wars sequel trilogy which almost killed the entire franchise. To be fair, it started off on a high note but as the trilogy progressed, it was quite evident that the House of Mouse didn't know what to do with it and ultimately, it became a critical failure. There have been majors rumblings all over the internet the last couple of months about Disney's alleged plans to erase the sequel films from existence to make way for a reboot but several sources have since debunked the rumors.

Now, according to the latest Star Wars gossip, a new trilogy could be on its way and it'll most certainly focus on the aftermath of the Skywalker saga's divisive finale, potentially indicating that the sequel trilogy will remain canon whether the haters would like to accept it or not.

According to a scoop from The Den of Nerds (via LRM Online), Lucasfilm is currently developing a brand new Star Wars trilogy set following the events of The Rise of Skywalker. They didn't exactly go into detail about the rumored trilogy but interestingly, the said series of films will allegedly be headlined by Adam Driver which makes no sense considering Ben Solo/Kylo Ren died in Episode IX... or did he?

The idea of Lucasfilm creating another trilogy doesn't seem too farfetched and while the production company currently have their hands full on the MandoVerse, down the line, they'll have to revert their focus back to the future of the franchise, and obviously, it has to start right after the Skywalker saga's most divisive trilogy unless they want to ignore its existence.

The entire Skywalker Saga is available for streaming on Disney+.
