While the news that Don’t Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro made a lot of manga fans happy, the upcoming show also received some negative feedback. For those who are not aware of this series, Don’t Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro is about a 15-year-old girl named Nagatoro who always bullies her senpai.

The app-based manga has a total of nine volumes as of the moment and is set to premiere as an anime in April 2021. The manga is light, funny, and really entertaining, which is probably the reason why it is getting an anime adaptation.

But what could possibly be the reason the upcoming anime got negative response from anime fans?

Don’t Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro Controversy Explained

Don’t Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro Controversy Explained 1

Don’t Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro indeed has an intriguing concept. The idea that a freshman will bully her sophomore senpai will surely get anyone’s attention. Aside from that, the way the manga was done is simple to understand, and readers will easily get hooked on the interesting scenes between Nagatoro and her senpai.

Fans believe that Nagatoro emotionally, and sometimes physically, bullies her senpai to the point that they believe might be a little overboard. While it is true that Nagatoro does bully her senpai every day, especially when he is alone in the art club room and she even made him cry, supporters of the manga think that the bullying isn’t that harsh.

Every time Nagatoro bullies her senpai, she only does it when they are together. When her friends are around, she doesn’t let them bully him much. There was also one scene when she helped him save the art club from disbanding.

Another controversy that arose is her skin tone. Some fans believe that it was weird that a bully should have a darker skin tone. Some say that there is a hidden meaning behind it but this is contradicted by Don’t Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro fans. Nagotoro might seem a bully at first, but eventually, her small teases would be understood as a way to get her senpai’s attention.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. While some anime fans believe that Don’t Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro should be canceled, there are still those who are anticipating its release this month.
