Have you ever wondered what it would be like if Zootopia was a real place you could visit? You can soon find out as Disney announces that the 2014 film will be getting its own land at Shanghai Disneyland.
According to D23, Shanghai Disneyland has announced that a new Zootopia-themed expansion will be opened at the park. Although upcoming attractions were not yet confirmed, the new land is expected to make guests feel like they have stepped into the city where Judy Hopps, Nick Wilde, and other animals can be whoever they want to be.
Bob Chapek, Chairman of Parks, Experiences and Consumer Products at The Walt Disney Company, expressed excitement for the new expansion.
"We are thrilled to announce that Shanghai Disneyland will be home to the world's first Zootopia-themed land," Chapek said. "The rapid rate of expansion at Shanghai Disney Resort demonstrates our confidence and commitment to the Company's future development in China."
There's a good reason why Zootopia was chosen to be Shanghai Disneyland's new expansion. The animated flick is reportedly China's No. 1 animated feature film of all time. The park already features Judy and Nick but soon, they will be joined by the other animals of Zootopia in their own land.
Although the Zootopia expansion is exclusive to Shanghai Disneyland, it isn't the only exciting new land for Disney Resorts. Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge is also set to open at Anaheim and Orlando later this year and is set to please Star Wars fans with its fully immersive attractions as well.
