Zoe Kravitz Says The Batman is Catwoman's Origin Story

There is little doubt that The Batman is going to be about Bruce Wayne as he establishes himself as the Caped Crusader. However, it looks like the highly anticipated DC flick will also explore Selina Kyle's origins. Zoe Kravitz has just confirmed that the upcoming Warner Bros. movie will also show fans Catwoman's origin story. So could this mean the character is set for bigger things in the DC Universe?

It's still a long wait for The Batman but the film was recently featured in Empire. During the interview, Zoë Kravitz spoke about her character's role in the film being more than just a pretty face or love interest for Bruce Wayne.

"This is an origin story for Selina," Kravitz. "So, it's the beginning of her figuring out who she is, beyond just someone trying to survive."

The Big Little Lies star continues by pointing out that there is still so much to learn about Selina. "I think there's a lot of space to grow and I think we are watching her become what I'm sure will be the femme fatale," Kravitz said.

That's an interesting way to put it and fans are already hoping it means that The Batman is just the beginning for Selina Kyle. This is also very possible considering that the film is expected to have at least two sequels. With that in mind, we're looking forward to seeing Kravitz's Catwoman in the future.

The Batman is directed by Matt Reeves and stars Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne. The film follows the young Bruce on his second year as the Caped Crusader and dealing with a serial killer known as The Riddler who has been going after Gotham City's wealthy residents. However, the Riddler is not the only baddie Bruce will have to deal with as the Penguin also joins the big picture.

The Batman will hit theaters on March 4, 2022.
