Zack Snyder recently revealed the details of the scrapped Wonder Woman 1854 movie for the DCEU franchise.
Back when the director was heavily involved in the DCEU, he had plans to do a Wonder Woman prequel movie that would take Diana Prince way back to the past before the events of the first film.
However, the project never saw the light of day and they opted to move forward in time as they ended up doing a sequel that is set in 1984, which received polarizing reception from fans and critics.

Zack Snyder Shares Details on Canceled Wonder Woman 1854 Project
In an interview with Empire Magazine, Snyder opened up about their original plans for the Wonder Woman 1854 project.
He shared that the prequel movie would have featured Diana's adventure outside Themyscira as she travels around the world looking for Ares and encounters different conflicts and battles.
"The idea of that was an early riff we were doing: once Wonder Woman left the island in search of Ares, what happened to her in her different incarnations? My idea for it was that she would travel around the world looking for Ares and she would go to every place where there was conflict," he explained.
"On those battlefields she found these lovers, warriors, and they would age out because she is immortal. They would be her lover for ten years or they might die in battle, and it was probably sad for a lot of the guys because they would see her starting to be nice to the next young soldier and be like, ‘Oh, I’m being replaced.’"
Snyder continued, "But all the guys that she had with her were those loyal warriors she found on the battlefields all over the world."
Diana's journey in the prequel would lead to her eventual encounter with Steve Trevor and their romantic relationship. "We talked about if Steve Trevor was there in Crimea. It was never a screenplay, but we talked about it so much that it kind of had its own life," Snyder added.
A third Wonder Woman was previously in development. However, the project was canceled when James Gunn and Peter Safran took over the DC franchise and decided to reboot with the DCU.
So far, there are no plans yet to do a new Wonder Woman movie in the DCU franchise, but a prequel series is in development that is set in Themyscira before the birth of the hero.
