Zack Snyder Confirms Martian Manhunter Was Almost In Justice League

It's no surprise that people continue to believe that Zack Snyder had a grand plan for Justice League. The director has just confirmed that Martian Manhunter was supposed to show up in the movie and he's someone we've been seeing since the beginning of the DC Extended Universe.

Snyder recently shared some never-before-seen Justice League storyboards on his Vero account and this time, it puts the focus on Martian Manhunter (via Twitter). Interestingly, the filmmaker admitted that he had already filmed the entire sequence although he had not yet done "the Harry Lennix side" which was supposed to be shot "in LA."

The confirmation is a surprise for some but also some kind of vindication for others. After all, there were theories about Lennix's character Calvin Swanwick being J'onn J'onzz due to his interest in Superman in Man of Steel. In addition to that, he continued to be a strangely important character in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice but somehow disappeared in Justice League. As it turns out, Snyder had been planning for Swanwick's big reveal before he had to exit the film.

The idea of Martian Manhunter working quietly in the sidelines all this time is a welcome one but it's also important to note that Snyder admitted that Lennix was not able to film the scene. This would mean it couldn't show up in the Snyder Cut of Justice League but we wouldn't be surprised if Lennix works with Snyder to shoot that entire sequence just to make sure J'onn joins the DCEU. That's just wishful thinking, but we're still crossing our fingers on that.
