Zack Snyder was one of the key creatives responsible for the DCEU franchise. While the franchise's overall reception may not have been as successful as they wanted it to be, it still has a fanbase that continues to support it over the years.

Some fans have also been wondering whether the director could return to the DC franchise at some point, especially now that it is under the leadership of James Gunn and Peter Safran and is in a new creative direction.

So far, there is no sign that Snyder might make his DC comeback soon since he is busy building the Rebel Moon and Army of the Dead universes on Netflix, both being expanded into major franchises.

Now, the director is addressing his potential DC return once again and it looks like he could still come back under one specific condition.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Snyder discussed his relationship with Gunn now that he has taken over the management of the DC property where he iterated his previous statements that he supports his new vision for the franchise.

"I called him and said I wish all the best for him. I told him I wanted it to work," he said.

When asked about whether he is open to returning to the DC franchise if he gets invited by Gunn, Snyder said that he might consider it if he would do an adaptation of Dark Knight Returns that is "a true representation of the graphic novel."

To what could be the delight of many fans, it seems that Snyder is still open to returning to the DC franchise for that specific Batman story that he wants to tackle.

However, that is unlikely to happen anytime soon since he is busy with his Netflix projects and Gunn and Safran also have their own vision for Batman in the DCU with The Brave and the Bold which is currently in development.

At the very least, we have some sort of assurance from Snyder that he could return to the DC property if ever he gets a chance but it will also take a giant leap to make that happen. For now, fans of the director can settle on his current projects that are Snyder's own original vision.
