Kickstarting his career as Troy Bolton in Disney's High School Musical, Efron has established his career and starred in several notable films like 17 Again, Dirty Grandpa, and Baywatch.

Over the years, Efron was fan-casted in multiple major comic book characters from Marvel and DC, including potential castings for Human Torch, Nova, and Adam Warlock. And even at some point, the Disney star was very close to landing his very first Marvel role when Efron was reportedly chosen as Marvel's standard for Adam Warlock casting for the upcoming Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 3. However, the role eventually went to The Maze Runner star, Will Poulter.

As Marvel is currently expanding its franchise by introducing new characters from renowned comic book teams like the Eternals, Fantastic Four, and X-Men, Zac Efron has finally expressed interest in a superhero role.

In a recent interview with Extra TV, Zac Efron sat down to promote his latest film Firestarter. When asked if he is interested in playing a Marvel superhero in the future, Efron responded, "I love the Marvel universe. I've been a fan of Marvel since I started walking. If the right character comes along, and they want me to jump in, I would jump at the opportunity."

Fans would certainly love to see Zac Efron in the MCU in the future, and it could also be a thriving casting for Marvel given the tremendous fandom that the actor has. In addition to that, when reports previously said that Marvel is looking for a Zac Efron-type of actor for GOTG3, why not just cast Zac Efron? But apparently, the studios found whatever they are looking for in Will Poulter. Despite the role now unavailable, it's still unclear whether Efron was tapped to play the character.

Nevertheless, Efron would be a fitting choice for several superhero roles like Human Torch, Richard Rider's Nova, and X-Men's Cyclops.

For now, Zac Efron will star in the sci-fi horror remake Firestarter, hitting theaters on May 13.
