Yumi’s Cells 2 Episode 5 Recap

Yumi’s Cells 2 Episode 5 sees Goo Woong’s hardships days after his breakup with Yumi. The several flashbacks reveal how difficult it was for Goo Woong to decide as his work was also reaching rock bottom.

Because of his pride, he could not tell Yumi the truth about his situation. And this ended up with them misunderstanding each other.

After closing his studio, Goo Woong transferred to a gaming company and worked as a programmer. He also brought his friend, Louis, with him; as it turns out, the company is also where Saeyi works.

All this time, Goo Woong regretted breaking up with Yumi and letting his pride reign. One night, as he was on his way to purchase steamed buns from the convenience store, a situation suddenly gave Goo Woong an idea to buy his own electric rice cooker.

According to Louis, steaming buns in an electric rice cooker is better than purchasing a steamer. Goo Woong visits the second-hand online market and finds a seller who put up a rice cooker for sale.

Without any idea that the transaction would be between him and Yumi, Goo Woong felt that fate brought them together. However, different from what he imagined, Yumi was cold and indifferent.

Yumi immediately ended the conversation after giving him the rice cooker and the change from his payment. Goo Woong was left under the snow, still processing what happened.

On the other hand, Yumi started to worry about Goo Woong as she noticed a huge change in his physical appearance. Goo Woong had his hair cut short and looked gaunt and exhausted.

But she had no time to worry about him as she returned to Babi’s home to continue preparing their Christmas Eve dinner.

And just as the two lovebirds were having their moment together, Yumi receives a message Babi first read as the former was working on the pizza dough. Babi let Yumi go out and meet whoever it was, as he strongly trusted his girlfriend.

Filled with guilt for not responding to Goo Woong’s message, Yumi had no choice but to go out and meet him. She returned to the place they met earlier, bringing the game poster she had initially sent to Goo Woong’s old office.

Goo Woong might have misinterpreted Yumi’s Christmas message as he felt telling her about regretting breaking up with her will bring them back together. But Yumi firmly said that she already had a boyfriend and they had been seeing each other for months.

This revelation broke Goo Woong’s heart, but it was also a proper closure they hadn’t done before. Yumi apologized for not being with him during his most difficult time and wished him all the best.

Yumi then hurriedly returned to Babi’s home, seeing the latter happily greeting him back. Babi also told her his apartment’s door password, signaling how much he trusts and cherishes Yumi.
