Netflix has shared our first look at Takumi Kitamura as Yusuke Urameshi in the live-action Yu Yu Hakusho series. In addition to that, the streamer revealed Kitamura's initial reaction to being cast in the highly anticipated adaptation.

It's a cool reaction to the casting and there is little doubt that Kitamura is excited to work with Sho Tsukikawa all over again. The two had previously collaborated on the live-action film Let Me Eat Your Pancreas which is based on Yoru Sumino's novel I Want To Eat Your Pancreas. Kitamura had played the younger version of Haruki Shiga in the movie.

Sho Tsukikawa also shared his thoughts on working on Yu Yu Hakusho.

"In the early stage of writing the script, we focused on finding themes that are familiar to the present day but the appeal of Yu Yu Hakusho is the relationship between the characters and the battle so we also incorporate plenty of action," Tsukitawa said. "The difficulty level of VFX is quite high, but we are also working on the highest quality that can be achieved at present by introducing the cutting-edge technology."

Netflix will continue sharing new updates including the rest of the cast tomorrow. In the meantime, Yu Yu Hakusho is set to premiere on the streaming service in December 2023.
