There’s a new video game sweeping the internet and it doesn’t feature your usual type of heroic character. Players get to be Lenoardo DiCaprio themselves with the Leo's Red Carpet Rampage!
The 41-year-old actor is terrific at his job, but everybody knows the Oscars has been quite a difficult feat for him.
Now that Leo might finally win an Academy Award with The Revenant, London-based The Line Animation has released an 8-bit themed game where we can help Leo (in our own way), grab the Oscar (literally).
The game is simple. Players get to be Leo, who must “rampage” through the entire length of the Red Carpet in order to grab a moving, floating, and rather evasive Oscar.
The game developers reportedly crafted the game in a span of 3 weeks, and I must say they have done a perfect job depicting DiCaprio’s acting career – from the paparazzi to Lady Gaga to Matt Damon to The Wolf of Wall Street, and even making an acceptance speech, they had it covered.
There are new challenges with each round and there’s different awards that Leo has already won, such as the Golden Globes, Emmys and BAFTAs, which are collectible for more points.
I played the game quite a few times but I couldn’t get past Round 5. It’s quite hard when all the papparazi gets in the way and I had to jump a lot of times. There’s also the occasional iceberg, a humorous reference to Leo’s breakout role in the Titanic.
One round would also require players to race other Oscar nominees like Bryan Cranston, Michael Fassbender, Eddie Redmayne, and Matt Damon. As for Lady Gaga, it’s a nod to the moment at the Golden Globe where she barged past Leo to accept her award.
My favorite parts are the hilarious mini-games, where Leo is required to act harder, crawl towards his car in Wolf of Wall Street, write an acceptance speech, and choose a black nominee. Of course, there is none. LOL.
Man, that Oscar is hard to get! Or maybe I’m just a lousy player.
Here’s one of my first few scores:
Obviously, Leo isn’t meant to catch the Oscar at all. Maybe if he finally wins the award, the game developers would include actually grabbing the naked man trophy.
Needless to say the game is hilarious, addictive, free, and I highly recommend it. I also think it speaks for a lot of people when it comes to Leonardo DiCaprio winning the Oscar. He deserves it.
I wonder what Leo thinks of the game. What do you think?
