Yoo Yeon Seok dishes on his plans starting with his dream project as he talks about welcoming his 40s.
The actor who is set to celebrate his 39th birthday this April 11, graced Harper’s Bazaar magazine’s February issue where he spoke about his current and upcoming projects as well as his acting journey.
For the past 20 years, he has been acting in front of an audience after starting as a theater actor.
He then made his on-screen debut in 2003 after joining Old Boy where he took the role of young Yoo Ji Tae.
Since then, he continue playing supporting characters and eventually wowed everyone with his amazing skills.
Yoo Yeon Seok’s Acting Journey
Playing lead roles in Running Gu, and the hit K-drama Reply 1994, this is where his popularity skyrocketed, with the public seeing Yoo Yeon Seok as one of the rising stars.
As he reflects on his acting journey, Yoo Yeo Seok admitted that had a mindset of “enduring” the work for 10 years but he “received such great love through Reply 1994.
“I can’t believe 10 years have passed, and now it’s my 20th debut anniversary,” he said as obtained by Soompi, adding “There were countless variables, but overall, I’m just thankful for the fact that people still think of me and that I’m able to continue acting.”
Interestingly, another blockbuster K-drama made him well-known not just in South Korea but globally as Dr. Romantic and Hospital Playlist become among the most-watched medical K-dramas of all time.

Yoo Yeon Seok Wants to Star in Romance Series Before Entering His 40s
Currently, he is starring as one of the lead stars in The Interest of Love with Moon Ga Young, Geum Sae Rok, and Jung Ga Ram.
The reason why he chose the JTBC series was because it is a part of his goal now that he is about to turn 40.
He revealed that his wish is to headline a romance series which he described as “a dream I thought was far-fetched.”
As for The Interest of Love, Yoo Yeon Seok was happy that it focuses on realistic love story.
“It’s not a love that has a great background narrative or deals with pain and suffering, but it’s so realistic that I found it to be more heartbreaking,” he explained.
After The Interest of Love, the 38-year-old actor will be appearing in A Very Lucky Day.
A thriller psychological K-drama were he plays psychopath killer Hyuk Soo.
He will be starring along with Juvenile Justice stars Lee Sung Min and Lee Jung Eun.
