Amid the drug use controversy surrounding Yoo Ah In, Netflix reportedly drops him off Hellbound Season 2 and replaces him with Kim Sung Cheol. The K-drama star is still under investigation for alleged habitual use of propofol, marijuana, cocaine, and ketamine.

Yoo Ah In played the role of Jung Jin Soo in the series’ first season. Now, he will not return to Hellbound Season 2 due to the drug scandal that mars his name.

Hellbound Season 2 Update

Kim Sung Cheol, who stars in Our Beloved Summer, Vincenzo, The Night Out, and more, may replace Yoo Ah In’s role as the leader of the New Truth Society.

With the actor’s exit, fans will see the coming of the new cast members Yang Dong Geun and Moon Geun Young.

They will be playing new characters as new stories are about to unfold. Some familiar faces from the previous season will also return in Hellbound Season 2, like Kim Hyun Joo, Kim Shin Rok, Lee Dong Hee, and more.

Yoo Ah In’s Use of Propofol

According to AllKpop, Yoo Ah In habitually used propofol without his doctors’ suspicion.

In a report by MBC on March 2, the police suspect that Yoo Ah In received propofol for simple procedures, like exaggerating the pain. From there, he would receive sedation.

"Yoo Ah In received care from us. However, he requested to be sedated for only painful procedures,” the 36-year-old’s dermatology clinic when he visited for a skin treatment in 2021.

It was even revealed that the clinic’s director sent messages to him, saying he shouldn’t “use too much sedatives” and not to jump from “one clinic to another.”

That said, his representative issued an explanation.

"Yoo Ah In suffers from a skin disease,” the rep explained. “He has a 'phobia of needles,' so he only requested to be put under anesthesia during treatment."

However, the police already suspected that the creative director had “intentionally requested sleep anesthesia.”

His blood test result revealed his propofol dosage and the number of times he administered them were at a “near-lethal level.”

The National Institute of Scientific Investigation exam also saw four types of drug substances in Yoo Ah In’s body: propofol, hemp, cocaine, and ketamine, administered altogether.

"We plan to summon Yoo Ah In as a suspect next week at the earliest to investigate how he took the drug and possible accomplices,” the police said.
