If you've been following anything Yellowstone for a while, you'll know that there's a good probability a 6666 spin-off show will materialize. However, nothing has been completely finalized as of yet, and for the time being, the primary focus will most likely be Season 5 of the flagship show.
Will Yellowstone: 6666 Really Happen?
To date, no information on the tentatively titled Yellowstone: 6666's release date has been provided. While we do know that production on 1883 began on Aug. 23, 2021, and that the series premiered on Dec. 19, 2021, the latter's production schedule may not be a reliable basis of comparison for the series' second spin-off.
For starters, it appears that Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan had already considered most of the plot of 1883 when creating the Dutton family. According to 101 Studios CEO David Glasser, in crafting his engaging characters, the writer appears to care a lot about backstory and lineage.
"Ask him a question about a character," the exec said of Sheridan, "(and) he'll take you back 10 or 30 years. That's what happened here with 1883. Taylor was thinking about the story of the Duttons and their journey."
The narrative for 6666 may or may not be as pre-established, depending on when it is set in the series' history.
Taylor Sheridan Buys Four Sixes
The Texas spin-off, on the other hand, may have one huge advantage when it comes to filming: Sheridan owns the Four Sixes Ranch in Texas. According to Texas Monthly, once the vast ranch went on the market last December, Sheridan bought it for an undisclosed sum and became "the face of the new ownership group."
The ranch consists of three separate properties in west Texas amounting to 266,000 acres, which is larger than San Antonio and twice the size of Chicago! Despite this, it is ranked No. 9 on the list of Texas' largest ranches.
The property was used to film several scenes for Yellowstone Season 4 in October 2020.
When Will 6666 Be Released?
Although no premiere date has been set, the fourth season of Yellowstone recently concluded, and another Yellowstone spinoff, 1883, is currently airing on Paramount+. We’re expecting 6666 to premiere some time in 2022.
