It's easy to compare The Matrix: Resurrections with the rest of the previous movies. But how does it compare to the other Yahya Abdul-Mateen II projects? The Aquaman 2 star has just revealed that The Matrix 4 has something in common with the Candyman sequel.
There is little doubt that The Matrix 4 is one of the most highly anticipated movies of 2021. However, the sequel is still shrouded in mystery and (if you haven't read the trailer description yet), Abdul-Mateen's role has not yet been revealed.
Although we don't know much about The Matrix 4 just yet. However, Abdul-Mateen is happy to talk about Resurrections and as he revealed to Variety, the film is quite similar to Candyman.
"It's not very different. They both are classics that people love. They come with high expectations of excellence, and audiences cannot wait to see them. And it's nice to be a part of that," Abdul-Mateen said. He then revealed that the films are similar since they are both giving a fresh spin to the original material
"Of course, they also come with the opportunity to, to add your own spin to moments and characters. And we're looking forward to doing that with The Matrix in the same way that we did it with Candyman," Abdul-Mateen said. "It's all an opportunity to tell new fresh stories and to change the narrative and to add a new perspective on it."
There is little doubt that both movies have something new to offer and both benefit from Abdul-Mateen being a part of the cast. With that in mind, we can't wait to see him in action in The Matrix 4.
Candyman is now screening in theaters. The Matrix: Resurrections will also star Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss and is scheduled for release on December 22, 2021.
