Xbox Cheekily Responds to PlayStation Classic Announcement

Fans are currently losing their minds over the upcoming PlayStation Classic, which comes out on December 3. Like the NES and SNES Classics before it, the PlayStation Classic will have 20 games for players to check out. Thus far, we know that Final Fantasy VII, Tekken 3, Wild Arms, Jumping Flash, and Ridge Racer 4 will be playable in the system, so it's going to be a quality accessory.

However, if you want to play some of your old Xbox and Xbox 360 games, all you'd need is an Xbox One or Xbox One X. Microsoft has made this abundantly clear as a response to Sony's mini-console, which is both cheeky and smart on the company's behalf. If there's one thing that Microsoft's current-gen console does better than the PS4, it's backward compatibility.

Microsoft shocked the world when they revealed that the gaming system would be able to play Xbox and Xbox 360 games. It not only encourages players to keep their old discs but gives newer gamers something to look for in the bargain bin. The only old games the PS4 can play are digital versions of certain PS2 titles.

Some might call Microsoft petty for these comments but they aren't completely wrong about this. The lack of backward compatibility on the PS4 is disappointing so it's a good thing that the console has so many exclusives. Plus, they'll never have to release an Xbox Classic since the Xbox One is essentially an Xbox Classic, without the cute size.

Granted, not all of the classic Xbox games are playable on the Xbox One, but they are working on it. Microsoft has already made a number of their Xbox 360 games playable on the new console, some of which even have Xbox One X enhancements.

The PlayStation Classic comes out on December 3. Will you be picking this up? Or would you rather get an Xbox One?
