Marvel fans may have very few details about what Marvel has planned for Captain Marvel 2, however, there have been quite a number of rumors about what's to come in Brie Larson's second standalone movie as Carol Danvers.
Not only have there been rumors that Carol Danvers might find herself replaced by Monica Rambeau, but there have also been rumors that the film might introduce a female Nova, Beth Rider, into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Now, the latest report on Captain Marvel 2 suggests a rather different villain for Brie Larson. According to Comic Book Review writer Mickey Sutton, a reliable resource of Marvel scoops (via SuperheroBuzz), insider reports suggest that Marvel may very well utilize one of the most notable X-Men characters and turn her into a villain for the upcoming Captain Marvel sequel.
Apparently Marvel is developing Rogue to be a key figure in the reviewing of X-Men, and just like her comic book debut, the mutant will appear as a villain in Captain Marvel 2 by entering the film as a member of a mutant terrorist group.
Marvel fans might assume this terrorist group to be Magneto's Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, however, the report by Sutton says that the name might be shortened in Captain Marvel 2. Apparently, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige wants to place Magneto on the shelf for the time being because of Fox's current burnout.
As interesting as it might seem to have Rogue in Captain Marvel 2, we advise fans to take the report with a grain of salt. We can't really be sure about what Marvel has planned for the film until we get confirmation from the studio.
Captain Marvel 2 doesn't have a release date just yet, but we'll let everyone know as soon as we get word.
