I think we can all agree that Jessica Chastain's brief time in the FoxVerse left nothing to be desired and it seemed like she was forever destined to be remembered by Marvel fans for her lackluster involvement in Fox's final X-Men film Dark Phoenix which ended up becoming both a critical and financial failure.
Well, it looks like Chastain is getting her shot at redemption a few years after playing Vuk/Smith in Dark Phoenix, and according to a new casting rumor, the Oscar-winning actress is heading to the Marvel Cinematic Universe to play an exciting role in Phase Five.
As per the latest scoop from the oftentimes reliable tipster MyTimeToShineHello, the 45-year-old star is being eyed to play the main villain in Captain America: New World Order. Yup, it looks like General Thunderbolt Ross aka Red Hulk won't be the film's main baddie, nor will Valentina Allegra de Fontaine.
The identity of Chastain's potential character remains under wraps but in a separate post, the Twitter insider claims that the fourth Captain America film will feature five villains apart from the aforementioned characters plus Samuel Sterns aka Leader.

It's worth mentioning that previous reports have suggested that the Anthony Mackie-led project will see Sam Wilson assemble a new Avengers line-up. With this new rumor about the film having a slew of villains, it only makes sense for the new Captain America to have some major backup.
Now, it's still a little too early to speculate which character Chastain could end up playing because there are literally loads of villains to choose from in Marvel's roster. But I'm just glad that she's getting another shot.
Marvel Studios' Captain America: New World Order is slated for release in theaters on May 3, 2024.
