A new rumor suggested that the highly-anticipated MCU reboot of X-Men will not include Wolverine, and the reason may surprise you.
Marvel Studios is currently working on a new X-Men movie that will officially introduce the iconic mutant team in the MCU. The project is still in early development with a writer already attached to pen the screenplay.
Fans have been looking forward to hearing what they have in store for the MCU version of the team and which members will be part of the lineup. Unfortunately, a certain fan-favorite character won't likely be included.
X-Men MCU Reboot Reportedly Won't Include Wolverine, Hugh Jackman Might Continue the Role
According to a recent scoop from insider Daniel Richtman, the MCU reboot of X-Men will not include Wolverine in the lineup.
The reason is likely because Hugh Jackman might continue playing the role after the events of Avengers: Secret Wars.
So far, Marvel Studios has not confirmed the claims made in the report.
If the report ends up being true, it looks like the joke in Deadpool & Wolverine that Jackman will be playing the role "until he's 90" might somehow become true as there are seemingly no plans yet for him to retire again.
However, this is also a risky creative decision since the general audience has the perception that Wolverine is an important part of X-Men and they might see this as a missed opportunity.
It also poses a question on whether Marvel will actually recast the role of Wolverine soon as having Jackman continue playing him might pose some problems down the line narratively.
Hopefully, we will get official details from Marvel regarding their plans for Wolverine and the X-Men in the MCU soon as fans are eager for their arrival.
