Henry Cavill's future in the DC Extended Universe has remained a huge mystery to a lot of fans for close to five years now. Originally, the British actor was supposed to reprise his role as Superman in the previously announced Man of Steel 2 which was ultimately turned into a reboot with J.J. Abrams attached to produce.

While his involvement in Zack Snyder's Justice League last year renewed the fandom's collective hopes, we all know for a fact that the Snyder Cut is not canon to the main DCEU continuity, and with Warner Bros. determined to hit the reset button on the franchise after The Flash, Cavill's chances of returning as Superman gets slimmer by the day.

This is why comic book film fans have been kickstarting movements left and right to see Henry make the jump to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now, Instagram artist @clements.ink continues the campaign with his recently unveiled artwork imagining The Witcher star as Cyclops, and surprisingly enough, it works. Check it out below:

This isn't the first time Cavill got fan-casted for an MCU role. In fact, many fans have been campaigning for the actor to play Marvel characters ranging from Captain Britain to even Wolverine. Personally speaking, I'd rather see him pick up where the DCEU left off with Superman but it almost feels like a pipe dream these days.

As it stands, we don't know if Cavill is still contractually obligated to appear in the DCEU but his situation with WB and DC Films raises a lot of questions that have yet to be answered.

Meanwhile, Marvel Studios' X-Men reboot is under development.
