One of the stars of X-Men '97 has seemingly hinted that Gambit may still return despite his demise in the fifth episode.
The fan-favorite character infamously met his death at the end of the much-buzzed fifth episode of the series to the surprise of many fans. Considering that his funeral was held in the recent episode, we can safely assume that his death is permanent.
However, some fans are still wondering whether the character will be resurrected at some point since he's always been an integral member of the X-Men team.

X-Men '97 Cable Voice Actor Suggests Gambit Could Still Return
In a recent convention appearance, Chris Potter, who voiced Gambit in the original series and now voices Cable in X-Men '97, hinted that Gambit might still return thanks to his new character.
He recalled his conversation with the producers when they told him that he was going to voice Cable in the new series due to Gambit's early demise and suggested that his new character would be the key to the resurrection.
"They told me I'd be playing a new character. I said, 'What do you mean? I’m Gambit.' They said, 'Not anymore, we're killing him off in episode 3. You're going to be Cable now.' Now, as it turns out, Cable is the only one who can bring Gambit back," the actor said.
Potter's remarks have sparked some speculation that Gambit will eventually be resurrected by Cable which makes sense given the nature of the character and his capabilities.
The past few episodes have also set up Cable as an integral character in the rest of the season and it is interesting to see whether we will eventually see him attempt to bring back Gambit in some way.
If Gambit eventually returns, a lot of fans will definitely be happy since they've been reeling his death since the fifth episode and were hoping that they would have seen more of him in the revival.
