Wyatt Oleff Comments On I Am Not Okay With This Being Compared to Stranger Things

It's understandable why people are comparing I Am Not Okay with This to Stranger Things. After all, both shows feature an enigmatic young girl who appears to have psychic powers and boast of cast members that were a part of the young Losers Club in IT (also, they are both on Netflix). However, Wyatt Oleff insists that that's where the similarities end.

Oleff, who plays Stanley Barber in I Am Not Okay with This, recently spoke to Collider about the new series. He immediately pointed out that although he respects Stranger Things and thinks it is "brilliant", his own show is very different.

"It's really interesting to be a part of that supernatural aspect, but it's in no ways that similar to Stranger Things," Oleff said. "Stranger Things has more of an 80s vibe. This is maybe 70s, maybe current day. It's all over the place. I think that's obviously one thing that separates it, but also just some of the costumes, obviously the writing, the cinematography and the directing."

Interestingly, Oleff also mentioned that I Am Not Okay with This is probably more in line with other 80s classics because it has a certain vibe.

"It's all different and these characters are, I'm not going to say nothing you've ever seen before, but this combination of the supernatural in these characters feels new. Especially, with that John Hughes vibe. It's like, where are they going to take this? I think that's exciting," he said.

So does this mean that the show is more like Pretty in Pink meets Carrie? It's certainly a different way to describe it. Either way, we can't wait to see more of the series and we're hoping it gets a second season.
