Wonder Woman is Now The Highest Grossing Domestic Superhero Origin Film Ever

After passing the $404 million mark at the box office this past weekend, Wonder Woman has now become the highest grossing superhero origin movie at the domestic box office.

Wonder Woman has grossed an estimated $404,008,376 million domestically (via boxofficemojo), surpassing Sam Raimi's Spider-Man's record of $403,706,375.

Since 2002, the original Spider-Man film held the top spot of all superhero origin films. Deadpool came close to its record, but the film still missed the mark by about $40 million.

Wonder Woman became the highest-grossing DC Extended Universe film domestically in its theatrical run earlier. The Patty Jenkins-directed film also became the highest-grossing film by a female director. Wonder Woman also surpassed Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2's record to become the biggest movie of the summer 2017 film season.

Wonder Woman will be available on digital HD on August 29. The Blu-ray version will be available on September 19.
