There's a whole lot of excitement building up over Wonder Woman 1984. Not only will the Wonder Woman sequel feature Gal Gadot's return as Diana Prince, but it will also feature the appearance of Pedro Pascal as Maxwell Lord and Kristen Wiig as Cheetah.
Though a supposed synopsis of Wonder Woman 1984 has been making the rounds online, Warner Brothers has revealed very little about the upcoming comic book movie.
Now, it seems like a new set of images showcases the presence of a powerful artifact from the DC comic book universe – the Chaos Crystal/ Chaos Shard. Entertainment Weekly just recently did a comprehensive cover on Wonder Woman 1984 and in its most recent issue, the publication included a few photos taken from the Wonder Woman sequel.
One of these photos features Barbara Ann Minerva standing by a corner while Maxwell Lord points to a stone on his desk.
CBR suspects that this stone could be the Chaos Crystal, an element that comes from the Sphere of the Gods, an extra-dimensional version of the universe where divine beings like Apokolips, the New Gods, and Olympus exists. The Chaos Crystal can augment the power of those that wield it. It also has the ability to grant wishes whenever it is held. At one point, in the comics, it was used by the United States to create an anti-Superman weapon to use against the Man of Steel in case he ever proves to be a danger to the country.
The Chaos Crystal could be used by Maxwell Lord in many different ways. It could also be the reason why Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) is able to return. Let's wait and see what happens in the movie.
Wonder Woman 1984 premieres June 5, 2020.
