Wonder Woman 1984 Director Patty Jenkins Signs Multi-Year Netflix Deal

Patty Jenkins has been making quite the name of herself lately, thanks to Wonder Woman doing well and Wonder Woman 1984 shaping up nicely, even if we're all nervous about Steve Trevor's supposed revival. Even before these movies, she was already doing well, directing episodes of Arrested Development and Entourage, so it only makes sense for her to work on more episodic programming.

It seems like her hard work has paid off since Variety is reporting that Jenkins has signed a multi-year deal with Netflix. This isn't the first time the streaming service giant has exclusively signed creators to their platform but it's still noteworthy of them to get Jenkins. What kind of content she has in store for them isn't known yet but if she is allowed some creative freedom and a decent budget, things could go well.

Channing Dungey, the Vice President of Original Series at Netflix, had this to say about the signing of Jenkins:

"We're thrilled to welcome Patty Jenkins to Netflix. Her trailblazing work has pushed boundaries and she confidently tells stories that leave an unforgettable mark. We look forward to fostering her many ideas and helping them come to life."

Though Wonder Woman wasn't a perfect product, it was still a refreshing piece of film that a lot of people appreciated, especially after Suicide Squad and Batman v Superman ruined a lot of our expectations. Her original contributions to Netflix should be interesting and we're hoping that they end up being fun to watch and/or binge.

Wonder Woman 1984 comes out on June 5, 2020.
