Wonder Woman 1984: Did Patty Jenkins Confirm Pedro Pascal is Playing Maxwell Lord?

When news had it that Pedro Pascal (The Mandalorian) was in Wonder Woman 1984, a lot of people were curious on who he would be playing. While a lot of people were sure that he was Hades in disguise, director Patty Jenkins may have confirmed who Pascal is actually playing.

She just posted this on Twitter:

She doesn't mention anyone specifically, but seeing that Pascal is the only main actor in the cast who is a guy in a suit, he perfectly fits the bill as Maxwell Lord.

On the surface, Maxwell Lord is an impeccable businessman, and you can actually put him in the same roster as Lex Luthor. Probably his most infamous arc in the comics had him be a metahuman hater and he creates these cyorgs called OMACs to hunt them down (much like a Bolivar Trask and his sentinels from X-Men). When it comes to his connection with Wonder Woman, Diana had infamously snapped Lord's neck on live television in an attempt to remove his mind control powers on Superman.

I think it's also worth noting that Lord's murder of the Blue Beetle is considered one of the most violent moments in DC comics (at the time).

While the inclusion of Hades would definitely make sense of Steve Trevor coming back, I'm interested in seeing Wonder Woman go up against an actual human and not a god like in the last film. Though Kristen Wiig is playing Cheetah, I don't really expect her to be the main baddie in the movie at all. Maybe she'll be one of Lord's cronies, or someone he manipulates into fighting Diana.

Wonder Woman 1984 is set to come out June 4, 2020.
