Wonder Woman 1984 and Black Widow are the Most Anticipated Movies of 2020

It looks like female-led comic book movies are taking the lead next year.

Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman 1984 and Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow movie have just found their way to the top of Fandango's list of the most highly anticipated movies of 2020, beating out other major entries like Marvel's Eternals, No Time to Die, and Fast and Furious 9.

Fandango just recently revealed the results of their Most Anticipated Movies Survey for next year (via Cinema Blend), and it looks like the DC Extended Universe's Wonder Woman sequel has taken the top spot on the list. Johansson's very first Black Widow standalone movie took second place on the list, followed by Marvel's Eternals and then Disney's live-action remake of Mulan.

Here's the top ten list of 2020's most highly anticipated movies:

1. Wonder Woman 1984

2. Black Widow

3. Marvel's Eternals

4. Mulan

5. No Time to Die

6. A Quiet Place Part II

7. Birds of Prey

8. In the Heights

9. Soul

10. Fast and Furious

There aren't that many major comic book blockbusters to expect next year. Star Wars is taking a short break after the premiere of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and the Marvel Cinematic Universe just recently closed out Phase 3 with the epic Avengers: Endgame. All that's left to look forward to next year are smaller films and sequels – though we're definitely excited to see most of the movies on the list.

Wonder Woman 1984 promises the return of the ever charismatic Gal Gadot and Chris Pine while Black Widow promises a compelling story featuring Natasha Romanoff.

Black Widow is set to debut on May 01, 2020. Wonder Woman 1984 premieres June 5, 2020.
