Wilson Bethel Discusses Bullseye’s Role in Daredevil Season 3 and Beyond

It seems like every bit of hype surrounding Daredevil season 3 hits the mark or the Bullseye if you catch my drift. The latest season is doing so many things right like being inspired by Born Again, teasing a new status quo for the Man Without Fear after what happened in Defenders, and introducing his worst enemy Bullseye, though he won't be fully formed yet.

Aside from all of these exciting plot points, the third season will also dedicate some time to Agent Benjamin Poindexter, who will eventually become the sharp-eyed assassin who kills pregnant women with toothpicks. We still aren't sure how long his tenure in this isle of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is going to be but actor Wilson Bethel feels that it will be the start of this epic comic book rivalry.

Speaking with ComicBook.com, Bethel doesn't spoil anything from the third season but does point out how this season and future installments have the potential for rich exploration when it comes to these two characters.

"I think speculation is a little bit of a dangerous thing with this stuff. I guess the only thing that I would say is that I think the rivalry that starts to get established in this season is so, has so much potential for rich exploration between Matt Murdock and Bullseye, between Daredevil and Bullseye that I just hope we get to continue to explore that."

Bethel is also hoping to show everyone a very nuanced portrayal of a man with serious psychological issues, pointing out how Poindexter won't be the comic book version of Bullseye just yet. We never got his origins in the comic books so it will be fascinating seeing it for the first time in Netflix, which is why they get the big bucks.

"What you get to see in this season is, hopefully, a really nuanced portrait of a man with some very serious psychological issues, who is getting pulled down this path. Hopefully what they're seeing is a human portrayal and not like a hyperbolic portrayal. The evolution of a man, rather than the evolution of a villain."

While he is expected to stick around the Netflix realm of the MCU, we probably won't see him in the movies anytime soon. This is a shame if the rumored Dark Avengers film ends up being legitimate since he is one of the most entertaining aspects of that comic book.

Daredevil season 3 premieres in Netflix on October 19, 2019.
