Ever since Captain Kirk met his final fate in 1994's Star Trek: Generations, talks of William Shatner returning to reprise his role has been frequent. With various TV projects in development at CBS, the actor is open to the possibility of returning, but with conditions.

In a recent interview with Metro, Shatner revealed that he'd be willing for a comeback. "If they wrote it and it made reasonable sense then I'd love to [revive Captain Kirk],' he said.

"I wouldn't do a series," Shatner added. The actor admits that if the part was "written properly" and it wouldn't be just a cameo or "gratuitous," or he reprises his role just to show his face, he wouldn't do it.

While Shatner expressed his interest in returning to the role, this new comment shows development for the fans, seeing as he previously revealed he wasn't interested in doing so because "Kirk's story is pretty well played out at his point."

Should he return to play Captain Kirk again, Star Trek: Picard is a good show to be placed in, considering that his character and Patrick Stewart's Picard have shared history. That being said, Shatner revealed to the outlet that he hasn't been approached to make an appearance on the said show, and he hasn't watched the series as well.
