Willem Dafoe is Doctor Octopus in Surprising Spider-Man 2 BTS Video

There is little doubt that Willem Dafoe was perfect as Norman Osborne in the Sam Raimi Spider-Man films. But what if the Aquaman star was cast as a completely different Marvel supervillain? A rare video taken behind the scenes in Spider-Man 2 features Dafoe playing Doctor Torbert Octavius complete with tentacles.

The video has been shared on Twitter and features Raimi along with Doc Ock actor Alfred Molina taking a break from filming. It is then revealed that Dafoe has visited them on the set and is playing with Doc Ock's tentacles. Check it out below.

We're loving Dafoe's version of Doc Ock and it's not hard to imagine the Lighthouse actor as the supervillain. On the other hand, Molina's performance as the character was pretty amazing as well. Either way, it's great to see what could have been if Dafoe had been cast as Doc Ock instead of Green Goblin.

Although he appears to be having fun on the set of Spider-Man 2, Dafoe had previously stated that he wasn't a big fan of superhero films since production could get rather loud.

"You have fun with some of the things that you get to do because there's lots of hardware and there's lots of crazy crane shots and those kinds of things," Dafoe previously said. "That's fun. But stuff is overshot. They spend a lot of money on big set pieces, because that's what delivers the action, and they're too noisy."

He might not like huge productions but fans are still expecting to see Dafoe in Aquaman 2, which is scheduled for release on December 16, 2022.
