Based on Marvel comics, the X-Men surely made their mark on the big screen with the franchise that started in the early 2000s and it definitely became a successful one to have 13 films all in all. With the recent events and companies merging, will there be another in the long list of films that the series have? Here is everything we know so far.

X-Men follows different mutants trying to live in the world where they are the minority, only a chosen few have an x-gene that turns into a mutation giving one certain ability and skills that are beyond human comprehension. For 20 years, the franchise released 13 movies, each outgrossing the other, and while some were not as successful as others, it is safe to say that the whole franchise is.

Here is the rundown of the thirteen X-Men movies: The original X-Men trilogy, the Wolverine trilogy, the four prequel films, the films of Deadpool, and the last release, The New Mutants. The original X-Men trilogy started it all as such brought the hype of mutants into the 2000s. One of the most famous mutants, Wolverine, even got his own trilogy, followed by Deadpool.

The timeline of the movies may really be confusing but living in a world where powered humans face various villains with the same abilities, the timeline is nothing to worry about. To sum it all up, the X-Men franchise definitely left a mark in the whole industry jump-starting the release of films with a similar plot.

Will There Be Another X-Men Movie?

Marvel Studios finally reunited with the rights to X-Men after Disney's acquisition of the 21st Century Fox in 2019. The following year, Disney+ rebranded the films of X-Men, along with that of Fantastic Four, as Marvel Legacy Movies.

But for the future of the franchise, according to a report from Collider, the development of the films under the 21st Century Fox remain on hold but was later canceled by Disney, making The New Mutants the conclusion of the franchise.

Still, there is hope for the X-Men movies as the growing Marvel Cinematic Universe could be their new home and a lot are waiting for their arrival in the ever-expanding universe because how cool would that be to see the Avengers and the X-Men stand side-by-side fighting the villains, right? All we have to do now is wait for easter eggs that could lead us to the arrival of mutants in the MCU.
