Will There Be Another The Purge Movie? 2021 Updates and Everything We Know So Far

In a dystopian America, what looks like a normal and crime-free country is not what it seems like every year, a special annual holiday takes place, one wherein all crimes are legal for 12 hours. You can basically do anything in those 12 hours – kill someone, rob a bank, light a house on fire, literally anything you want, but most importantly, survives. Will there be another The Purge movie?

There are five films in the franchise: The Purge in 2013 about a family in the security systems business, The Purge: Anarchy in 2014 where an anti-purge group goes out to give protection to those without, The Purge: Election Year in 2016 which takes place during the election of the president and a senator wants to end the lawlessness, The First Purge in 2018 taking us back to the pilot testing of the annual purge in Staten Island, and the last in 2021, The Forever Purge, which takes place after the third film and the purge returns after eight years.

The concept of having anything legal for 12 hours makes it an interesting idea. If this would happen in real life, it would spell chaos across the globe or any country or city for that matter. There are only two options: purge or survive. There are many ways to make it through the night but definitely, it must be something that can hold.

Will There Be Another The Purge Movie?

Just this year, The Forever Purge made it through the theaters and it is set eight years after the last purge was held. As lawlessness is back for 12 hours, it only shows how much time people have to do the things they want to do, whether it be good or bad.

Another one for The Purge is in the works as per the brilliant mind behind the film franchise, James DeMonaco, in a talk with Dread Central, shared that he had an idea for the sixth one, "Between you and I, man, I really intended for The Forever Purge to be the last one…up until 4 months ago when I woke up and had an idea for The Purge 6."
