Will Song Joong Ki, Jang Dong Gun, Kim Ji Won And Kim Ok Vin Return For Arthdal Chronicles Season 2?

Earlier this year, tvN confirmed that Arthdal Chronicles Season 2 is totally happening However, it is still unsafe to say that Song Joong Ki, Jang Dong Gun, Kim Ji Won, and Kim Ok Vin would reunite for another installment as there might be changes along the way.

About the imminent Arthdal Chronicles Season 2, the network said in a statement:

"The second season of ‘Arthdal Chronicles' is being prepared with an aim to begin filming in the second half of the year. The exact timing along with the directors and actors are still being discussed."

Soompi reported that Kim Kyu Tae and Hong Jong Chan would direct the imminent Arthdal Chronicles Season 2. For starters, Jong Chan was the brain behind some of the most successful K-dramas in history such as Her Private Life, Life, and Dear My Friends. Kyu Tae, on the other hand, direct Scarlet Heart: Goryeo, That Winter, The Wind Blows and It's Okay, That's Love.

Reports have it that the production for Arthdal Chronicles Season 2 has started several months ago. However, the filming was, reportedly, put on a halt due to the perils brought by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Sometime in May, photos from the set of Arthdal Chronicles Season 2 were, allegedly, shared on Instagram. The snaps, reportedly, showed the crew members in action. However, the said post was removed later on, which prompted fans to think that the people behind it do not want to reveal much about the production.

Another Instagram post featured Song Joong Ki donning obviously long and curly hair. The said photo gave birth to speculations that the production for Arthdal Chronicles Season 2 might have started secretly.

As of this writing, there is no recent news about Arthdal Chronicles Season 2. Netflix has also removed the imminent new installment in its 2021 lineup. So, there is a huge possibility that its release date would be moved to 2022.

tvN has yet to comment on these speculations surrounding Arthdal Chronicles Season 2. So, avid followers of the Song Joong Ki-led drama should take all these unverified reports lightly until everything is proven true and correct.

Song Joong Ki To Host Opening Ceremony Of 26th Busan International Film Festival With Park So Dam

Meanwhile, Song Joong Ki has a new role to play before he officially returns in a K-drama. The former husband of Song Hye Kyo was named as one of the hosts of the upcoming opening ceremony of the a6th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF).

The award-giving organization announced, earlier this month, that Song Joong Ki would be hosting the opening ceremony alongside Parasite actress Park So Dam. The said event would be held at the Busan Cinema Center in Busan, South Korea, on October 6.

The press release statement of BIFF read:

"With the consecutive success of his projects this year, from the film, Space Sweepers (2020), to the drama, Vincenzo (2021), actor Song Joong Ki, rightfully, caused a syndrome. After debuting in the 2008 film, A Frozen Flower, he solidified his position as a global star, proving both his popularity and acting capabilities by starring in various projects such as the dramas, Sungkyunkwan Scandal (2010), The Innocent Man (2012), Descendants of the Sun (2016), and Arthdal Chronicles (2019), and films A Werewolf Boy (2012) and The Battleship Island (2017). Along with the film Bogota, which he is currently filming, he is expanding his versatile acting capabilities by starring in films and dramas of diverse characters, eras, and genres."
