Will Smith has been making headlines following the controversial slapping incident at the Oscars Sunday when he slapped Chris Rock on stage. The people are still talking about what happened and an American broadcaster made an unlikely comparison between the Oscar winner and Meghan Markle.

Will Smith In The Same Boat As Meghan Markle

New Zealand journalist Dan Wootton spoke with American journalist, attorney, and political commentator Megyn Kelly for GB News. Both discussed the incident when Smith smacked Rock on stage for joking about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith's bald head.

Wootton said the King Richard actor did not show remorse and even did not apologize to Rock when he delivered his acceptance speech after winning the Oscars for best actor. He also noted how the crowd did not react negatively after witnessing a physical assault and even gave Smith a standing ovation.

Kelly also disapproved of what happened, saying the people were "so out of touch." Kelly said she personally liked Pinkett Smith because she has interviewed her several times. She even complimented the Matrix star for handling herself well even if she was the subject of the joke. However, she didn't approve of Smith's violent reaction and how the people seemed so impressed with his acceptance speech.

"I put him in the same boat as I put Meghan Markle with her whining and crying about the alleged racist, so she would not name in the royal family and about how hard it is to be a princess," Kelly said.

She said that no one cares about what title Markle's child is getting because they are busy with their lives and Smith crying in his acceptance speech appeared as if he was saying, "the people are saying mean things." Kelly said no one cared about it, especially how popular Smith is.

"You're probably one of the top three biggest stars in the world," she continued. "Do I give two figs about whether somebody's saying something not nice about you or how it's hard to withstand the barbs that come your way? No, I don't. Stop it. Sit down. Take your little statue. Go home to your gazillion-dollar home."

Kelly said the people don't feel sorry for Smith.

Why Did Will Smith Cry When He Delivered His Oscar Acceptance Speech

Will Smith was emotional when he delivered his acceptance speech after winning an Oscar for best actor, for his portrayal of Richard Williams in the biopic King Richard. In his remarks, he spoke of the similarities between himself and Williams saying, they were both "fierce defenders."

"Richard Williams was a fierce defender of his family. In this time in my life, in this moment, I am overwhelmed by what God is calling on me to do and be in this world," he said in a transcript obtained by AP News. "Making this film I got to protect Aunjanue Ellis, who is one of the most strongest, most delicate people I ever met. I got to protect Saniyya and Demi, the two actresses that played Venus and Serena. I’m being called on in my life to love people and to protect people and to be a river to my people."

He also apologized to the Academy but did not mention Chris Rock. He added that it was a beautiful moment but "I’m not crying for winning an award. It’s not about winning an award for me. It’s about being able to shine a light on all of the people."

He ended his speech by thanking for the award, and the moment. He added that he was hoping the Academy would invite him back.

Richard Williams reacted to Smith's behavior through his son and spokesperson Chavoita LeSane.

"We don't know all the details of what happened," LeSane told NBC News on Richard's behalf. "But we don't condone anyone hitting anyone else unless it's in self-defense."

Smith also issued a public apology to Rock on Monday via Instagram. He said that his behavior was "unacceptable and inexcusable" but explained that "a joke about Jada's medical condition was too much for me to bear and I reacted emotionally."

"I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong," Smith wrote. "I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness."

The Academy also announced via the Associated Press on Wednesday that it requested Smith to leave the ceremony but the actor refused. The organization apologized to Rock and the Oscar nominees, guests and viewers. The Academy already launched a formal review to investigate the incident.
